If you haven’t been to Bremer Bay, you’ve been missing out. We’ve just spent 4 days enjoying the amazing coastline, 4WDing, spearfishing and relaxing. I’ll let the photos do the talking.
Overall, the trip was epic. However, it didn’t start off like that; we had a pretty bad run! We left at 2:45AM, and arrived on Bremer Bay beach at around 8AM. Several hours of driving at 110km/h with zero drama’s (minus one kangaroo that nearly lost a battle); things were going well.
However, after deflating the tyres I noticed our 4WD’s temperature gauge had started to rise a little; I’ve never seen it move before.
We had to stop several times on the way to camp to try and improve the cooling (viscous fan wasn’t kicking in properly and some of the coolant had been pumped out of the radiator), and eventually got moving properly. Little did I know that this would be one of the reasons we sold our 80 Series and bought an Isuzu Dmax.
5 minutes from camp and Daniel cleaned up a big Kangaroo in his Nissan Patrol, much to our disappointment.
After putting it out of its misery, we continued, and arrived at camp to a windy and overcast day. We proceeded to set up camp about 50 metres away from some shacks, and I managed to knock a sand peg directly through the shacks water supply.
I had no idea it was there, and wandered up with my tail between my legs to let the owners know.
Being Christmas Day, I knew we wouldn’t be able to get a joiner in town, but they were very good about it, and actually had a spare joiner. Luckily, from that moment on, things picked up, and we had a fantastic break away.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. I had to go back to work, but was glad of a break. We thought it was mad to drive so far just for a few days, but would do it again in a heartbeat.
